Radon

National Awareness Campaign: Radon
Steps on how to develop a national awareness campaign:
Step 1: Create a mission statement
Step 2: I will ask some friends to help me out. I will contact some health organizations and public health professionals in the community and ask them to join and help me in campaign.
Step 3: Create a fact sheet and distribute it in the community
Step 4: Create posters and post them in public areas
Step 5: Use social media like Facebook and Twitter
Step 6: Join health fairs
Step 7: Meet with people in the community, listen to each other, exchange ideas, and talk about the next step. The next step can be signing a petition and talking to a representative about the health hazards of Radon.

  1. Hi Krissy,
it's a really good idea to create a mission statement for the campaign. I think the informational exchange process between the community and campaign personnel is a crucial step that we need to take in order to carry out an effective campaign. It might even be a good idea to involve the local authorization in order to give the campaign more credibility.

  2. Hi Krissy,

I think it's great that you want to mobilize the community as a whole to petition to a representative to create legal change. I would also suggest to partner with local DPH's and PCP's to strengthen your overall campaign.

  3. Hi Krissy,
I think it is fantastic that you are creating a long standing campaign by having a mission statement, which will set the foundation of the movement. I think it is great to recruit friends, since I am sure many are public health savvy :) Also my favorite component is the fact sheet which can be distributed in many ways to the people either social media, on tv/radio shows, in person and at health fairs. Great job!
